Modern River Living
September 26,2023
In the past few months JKC has been working on a basement trophy room, bathroom remodel, custom cabinetry and a brand-new build. It was nice to finish out the cold months in the shop and indoors while we worked on custom cabinets, milled walnut slabs and worked on the trim portion of a couple jobs.
A basement trophy room remodel in Hudsonville gave us the opportunity to flex some of our design freedoms and capabilities. We updated the basement living and kitchen areas to incorporate a modern aesthetic with some wonderful custom cabinetry and walnut bar tops and shelves.
Out at the Norton Shores new build we moved forward to the trim phase of the project. Installing pre-built cabinets, constructing some custom pieces and assembling closet shelving to make this couple’s house very much their own. The trim phase of a project is where we get to make a structure feel more like a home, which is one of the many enjoyable parts of our work.
We also had the opportunity to work on a small bathroom remodel in Standale where we built and installed some wonderful custom cabinets. Although the project is small in terms of some others jobs we have going on, there is always satisfaction when we can bring
new life to any room in a home.
Out on the Thornapple River we began work on a fun remodel and addition. Removing the existing garage, we were able to extend the basement living space by
cutting away the existing foundation walls and opening the space up. This made room for a new kitchen and entryway area up top; adding a new garage off the front of the house finished off the addition. Opening almost the entire backside of the house up and adding in 4 new sliding doors brought a new breath of life into the space allowing the beautiful views of the Thornapple River directly into the home and accomplishing
the “mid-century” feel the customers desired.
